"Real" — Juan Wauters Feat. Mac DeMarco
Latin American musician Juan Wauters just released the second single from his upcoming new album, Real Life Situations. The song, "Real," features slacker-rock staple Mac DeMarco for a surreal arrangement of Spanish guitar, auto-tune, and Dick Dale-infused surf riffs. Underneath the breezy melody, Juan’s lyrics document the hardships of authenticity — questioning who we can count on in a “dog eat dog wild world.”
Luckily, Juan found a trusted partner in Mac, forming the buddy duo of 2021 that we didn’t know we needed. “We tried a lot of new things and we ended up with this track so special," said Juan in a statement about the collaboration. "The song put an end to that awaited collaboration that was the initial impulse behind us meeting and forming a friendship that stood in time."
