There’s nothing we at Orangewood love more than an unexpected guitar cover — and Austin-based duo Hovvdy sure don’t disappoint with their new cover album, Covers 2. In the standout track “claws,” Hovvdy re-imagines Charlie XCX’s excellent quarantine electro-pop hit into a bedroom-pop slow burn. The cover showcases Hovvdys classic harmonies, finger-picking, and mesmeric arrangement to prove that, sometimes, the best songs come from not taking yourself too seriously.
