Hello Guys, This guitar plays as good if not better then my Martin, Yamaha or my Takamine, but I am not having good luck with the tuners on the guitar. There is an obvious lag when adjusting, one must be turned 1/2 turn before it pulls on the string to adjust sound. Two tuners are this way and doesn't keep me from tuning it , it's just not right. All keys should be the same as far as their tuning abilities. Being that it's brand new, I don't want to touch it. Thought I would see what you guys think and decide what should be done. Other then that, it's a great guitar and has a wonderful sound to it. I'm quickly making it my number one. I'm trying to sell some of these to my friends, I think they are that good! Thank You!
I own an Echo live, Oliver junior mahogany and a morgan mohogony live. The echo came out of the box perfect as well as the Oliver, this morgan had a substantial ding in the top (that was covered by a pickguard I put on it) and the nut was cut funny (hanging the high E close to the edge of the fretboard), to spite these small issues I love this guitar and it is my number one, beautiful and bright but full sounding and who can beat the mahogany look! I have become a bit of a fanboy for Orangewood and I used to be a Taylor lover.... Both my live models hold up very well next to the Taylor, Seagull and Guild in my worship band and not just for the price. These are really good guitars. Orangewood would have taken this guitar back and sent me a new one but I fell in love and kept it as is! Keep it up guys!
I can't say enough good things about my Orangewood Morgan Live guitar! The satin finish is flawless, it shows the woodgrain perfectly. The overall fit and finish is perfection as well. Nothing is out of place. The neck (Mahogany) has a great feel and the fretboard (Ovangkol) delivers a smooth touch, no worries about sharp fret ends here.
As far as the sound, it is what you would expect from a Mahogany guitar, it delivers a warm punchy sound and features great sustain. Kudos to Orangewood for including high caliber strings from Ernie Ball! The electronics (Fishman Sonitone EQ) are on the inside of the sound hole which leaves a clean line on the body of the guitar making it look all the better.
In the end, the Morgan Live is an excellent guitar and would be an asset in your stable of guitars.
Read a lot about Orangewood Guitars and watched plenty of reviews on their guitars. In all honesty the price of the guitar scared me. A great looking and sounding guitar for under $300? No way. Good job Orangewood! You definitely delivered on your hype. First off, the guitar was on back order, but they still got it to me for Xmas. Nice gig bag, not cheap. The guitar was set up perfectly! With Ernie Ball strings. Tuned it up and started playing. Great sound, no buzz. A little higher resonance then my other guitar, but sounded crisp and clean.
Defiantly happy with my purchase.
