Can't believe the quality and sound of this guitar. It's great!
This guitar is so responsive, agile, and extremely full-on in tone selections. It is replacing a Breedlove and a Gibson in my live arsenal. Excellent job, folks.
Recently I purchased a Morgan Mahogany Live Left Handed, I am very happy, great instrument for the price, solid build, sounds great!!!
Guitar build is very nice, nice finish. Playability is great, love the neck, playing with a little thicker pick really brings out the tone. For a guitar under 300 dollars can’t be beat
I bought this guitar on a whim...
I saw some YT video and I was intrigued by the quality and the price point.
With the guitar at less than 300 USD, I figured I had nothing to lose.
The guitar was out of stock when I went to buy it, but was back in stock about 4 days later. The order p;rocess was quick and the shipping info was even quicker. I really liked the constant communication from Orangewood. The guitar made it to me in three days, and that was with free shipping. How can you not like that?
The guitar was set up pretty well The neck was straight with very little bow and only slightly out of tune... about a full step. That's perfectly fine as I don't expect a guitar to be in tune after shipping.
The fret levels were good...
The nut was smooth and even with the neck...
I like the rubberized tuner knobs...
The color of the wood is nice and the binding was flawless....
I would like a bit lower action, but that's just a personal thing. I'll sand the bridge a little and see what happens.
I will also change out the strings in a week or so to some Elixers, but once again that's a personal preference.
I think my favorite thing is a spot on the fretboard that's like a different colored streak of wood. It's a little lighter than the rest and it catches my eye every time I pick it up. It's unique and I like it.
When I compare the sound of that guitar with my Yamaha, it's not as full. But then again I bought this guitar because it's an acoustic electric, so the acoustic sound is not as big of a deal. But the wood, shape and weight of the guitars are different so you can't expect them to sound the same.
Do I like the sound? Yes.
It's a little brighter sounding and if I knew another lefty and we played together, they would complement each nicely other I think.
It's got a Fishman unit, so there's really no need to say anything else. I've plugged it into my Headrush and then into 2 FRFR speakers; I was pleased with tone. Bright and full. Not overly bassy.
I dont really hear much difference when I take the tone control from 0-100, but you do hear a change although not drastic. I leave mine at 75% and call it good. The rest of the tone is shaped through EQ and IR's.
Is it worth it?
Would I buy another?
Yes. If you guys offered more left hand variety I definitely would.
Overall I like the guitar and play it every day. It's great for a knock around, for a beginner or someone who thought it was pretty and didn't have an acoustic electric. If you're on the fence, just do it. They still have a 30 day guarantee.
Bonus- They offer Affirm, which made the decision to buy even easier.
