This guitar plays and sounds and feels like a high end Taylor but with its own unique sound. My guitar has some very minor finish flaws where the fingerboard meets the neck, but they gave me a 5% discount for it. That’s the only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 because of the flaws. Great guitar.
Sounds great plugged in
I love the satin finish frets are nicely polished. Nicely set up. Easy to play low action. Sonically very well balanced string to string. Does not have a huge amount of sound output I’m not sure if this is because of that electronics, The finish the bridge heinght or because it needs more break in time ive been letting it out to dry. I’ll keep Strumming And let you know in a few months
After reading about the quailty and listening to some reviews on You-Tube, I figured what do I have lose but time in that Orangewood provides you time to "test-drive" their guitars. Usually I like to play a guitar first to see if it fits my expectations related to ease of play and quality of sound being produced. So, I purchased the Hudson Live. The guitar arrived very promptly. Opening the box to find a well made guitar case and inside a very eye appealing guitar. What I first noticed when I played the guitar, was that it did not take very much in terms of strumming to provide a very pleasing response (High-mid-low).I have many high end guitars, but something in the Hudsons ability to produce a tone at such a level was amazing. The neck, fret board all feel very comfortable. The LR Baggs Anthem addition just brings the Hudson to another level in terms of its tone quality. I personally feel this is comparable to a Martin D-18, which you would pay much more for. Keep up the GREAT work.
I bought this guitar the day they came available as well. When it arrived my heart was broken to see the un-attached electronics (LR BAGGS ANTHEM PICKUP). It had apparently fallen off during the shipping process. Unwilling to let the guitar go because of how wonderful it is built and how awesome it sounds, I repaired the guitar myself. I will say that customer service provided by Oroangewood is excellent. They would have sent me a brand new Hudson Live, but again I chose to keep the guitar as I immediately fell in love with it! I am giving the five stars because Orangewood has excellent customer support and has gone over and beyond giving you a high-end built guitar at a fraction of the cost!
I’ve had my Hudson Live for a couple of weeks now (I ordered mine the day they became available) and overall I am extremely happy with my purchase. Obviously buying a guitar without having played it first is quite a gamble, but, I had read nothing but good reviews on Orangewood guitars so I decided to roll the dice. As soon as you pull the guitar out of the case it feels like you are handling a quality instrument (and the case is awesome with a very snug fit). Once I started playing the guitar I loved the feel and sound, but, I noticed that that high E string was quite close to the edge of the fretboard. Too close for me. So I took the guitar to my luthier and had him make a new bone nut for me that would remedy this. I also switched out the strings for my usual strings (D’Addario 12s) and once I got the guitar back I immediately loved it. I had a 10% discount card when ordering this guitar so the money I saved there payed for the new nut. Aside from the quality feel and great sound, this guitar is also extremely light (great for long gigs) and so far I have had no feedback issues. If it wasn’t for the nut issue I would have given it five stars. I will be buying another Orangewood guitar somewhere down the line for sure!
