I am trying to like the Orangewood but the jury is still out. I have a Taylor 510 which I think sounds and plays better. I know that the Taylor is much more expensive and maybe I am spoiled, but it's hard to beat that Taylor neck.
My Taylor 224ce-K goes up for sale tomorrow. That says it all. Mahalo Orangewood.
You're welcome, Robert! We appreciate for your review!
When I unpacked the guitar, it had some type of material (felt like sand) that I had to remove by lightly scraping the entire finish. Also, it had to be tuned and the strings were (dead) especially at the A string 8th and 9th fret. The guitar arrived in 5 days, it was well packed and I had many communications from the company. The case is average but does not line up when closed (the top has to be pulled to the side in order to close it)
Hudson Torrefied Spruce Live
First off, I’m super impressed with a lot of things with this guitar and Orangewood. They had great feedback during delivery which was very quick), and the guitar came pretty much set up perfect. I had to adjust the truss rod just slightly to get the action to where I like it, but it plays beautifully now. The fit and finish on the guitar itself is top notch. Looks incredible with the torrified top and ebony fingerboard and bridge. The case is sold and has a really nice snug fit to the guitar. I’m giving this review 4 stars instead of 5 because the sound of the guitar left something to be desired. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t have that “oh wow” moment when I hit that first chord. That being said, the more I play it the more I love it. I put Elixr 80/20 strings and I like the sound much more now. It’s growing on me. The LR Baggs anthem pick-up is the best acoustic pick-up I’ve heard so far!! Worth buying this guitar just for that if you play plugged in.
