Enjoying this guitar very much. Just for the record, I also own Taylor and Martin guitars so my ear is quite accustomed to quality sound. There were 2 things that kept me from a 5 star rating. One was the strings, not Orangewood fault but just a preference of mine to go with Elixir strings. I changed them out. Second, was a blemish on the bass side of the headstock. It looked like it was banged by accident but then slightly lacquered over. Me being a
slight perfectionist, I was able to overlook the imperfection due to the sound that was produced after I changed out the strings. I try not to look at the headstock cause it just bothers me. Now for the good things, the action on this guitar was perfect right out the box. No setup needed whatsoever. Now that I've changed the strings, she sings amazingly. Not equivelant to my Taylor or Martin guitars but pretty damn close. I love the fact that a pickguard is optional. It comes with the pickguard along with literature, and amp cable. I absolutely LOVE the satin finish throughout the guitar, she feels quite good in the hands. Tuners are quite decent as I am not constantly tuning the guitar. Plugged her in and the pickup system is quite enjoyable. All in all, despite the 2 negatives that I have mentioned, I would definitely recommend this guitar to absolutely anyone in any level of play. Thanks Orangewood, maybe one day I'll look into buying another guitar with hopes of no marks on my next one.
Purchasing an Orangewood guitar was on my back burner for the longest time and I finally decided to pull the trigger on a Morgan Spruce Live in March 2020. It arrived at my doorstep within 4 days in great condition. The gig bag that comes with it is quite sturdy with plenty of padding and a nice big pocket for accessories. The set up out of the box was good, and all it needed was a quick tuning and I was ready to play.
This Live model has a nice Fishman pickup built in with discreet volume and tone controls hidden inside the sound hole - a nice touch. For onboard tuning, I think you have to opt for the more expensive Orangewood models. Overall, the sound quality through an amp was comparable to my Washburn which also has Fishman electronics.
This is my first acoustic guitar with 1) a Grand Auditorium style body, and 2) a cutaway, and it's such a delight to play. Highly recommend.
The set up and guitar overall are fantastic. Easily worth double the price and the gig bag is very high quality!
New to guitars, learning from a friend who has played his entire life and he says it’s one of the best he’s ever picked up
This guitar is fantastic and looks amazing. One of the best sounding guitars I've had for a fraction of the price only issue was a small cosmetic damage on the neck of the guitar when I got it and it arrived but other than that this guitar is 100% worth the money! I highly recommend Orangewood.
