My Oliver Live arrived well packaged. I let it acclimate for several days before opening it. I was disappointed to find an obvious flaw in the finish on the front of my guitar and a tiny scratch on the back of the head stock. Additionally, the postcard that is usually signed by the individual who set up this guitar was blank. To Orangewood's credit, they did offer several options including a replacement, a return, or a discount if I wanted to keep it. It sounds fine and I hate the hassle of returning things, waiting for a replacement(if in stock), and hoping for better results. So, I chose the discount and kept this guitar. Aside from the issues mentioned, this guitar sounds quite good. The fishman eq located inside the sound hole is a bit awkward for me. I prefer an exterior side mount eq that would also allow a built in tuner. I believe the sound would be fuller if the eq was mounted on the side. I hope Orangewood is not a victim of their success and starting to let quality control slip. Perhaps my guitar was just one that slipped through the cracks. I have no idea why my set up "postcard" was unsigned. Overall, I'm satisfied with the set up, sound, playability, and customer service. Just a shame to have a visual flaw on this otherwise gorgeous instrument. I'll give it 3 stars. Subtracted one for the flaw, and one for an unsigned set up card. The tiny scratch is forgivable.
Just got my Oliver Mahogany Live guitar last week an can not seem to put it down. Thanks for making a wonderful guitar.
The sound and feel of this instrument punches way above it's pricetag. The shipping was fast and the setup was almost perfect for me. I was impressed enough that I ordered two other models as gifts for my kids
Female guitar student here, and I am loving the Oliver Live. Dipped into guitar in high school, but full barre F was too much of a struggle on the dreadnought I'd been given. Set it aside. But a year ago I decided to try learning again in earnest. Bought a Taylor GS Mini because the shorter scale and thinner neck would short track my success with the full barre F. It worked! I've been very happy with that guitar, but I was ready for an acoustic with a fuller, richer sound. After months of research, knew I wanted the mahogany sound. And as a petite woman, I did not want a dreadnought. To be honest, Mary Spender's review of the Oliver is most likely what sealed the deal. The size, feel, sound of the Oliver Live is fantastic. Initially considered swapping the strings for Elixirs to match the GS Mini, but I am super happy with the Earthwood medium lights. The guitar setup and intonation are spot-on. And feel terrible admitting this but I've barely touched my GS Mini since.
