After a month or so with the Oliver

A month or so review...
Gave it away and bought a martin. Overall disappointed with the playability, sound, and hardware. Never could get the action to an acceptable level. It was either buzzing or too high. The sound was disappointing to me. The guitar would not stay in tune. The tuners were very unresponsive. This might be an ok choice for a brand new player but even then, I would imagine they would want to step up to a higher quality quickly.

Just not for me.

Couple of weeks review
The Oliver is ok. It does not meet the expectations I had for the guitar.

I do not like the tuners. They are not responsive. Set up from the factory was not great. However it did come from the west coast to the southern east coast. Even after adjustments to the truss rod I cannot eliminate all buzzing. It may be an issue with the saddle or nut.

Sound is ok not great. Based on the reviews and videos I expected more.

Playability, adequate. Again based on the reviews and videos I expected more.

This is a personal preference but I did not like the the light/medium Ernie Ball strings and replaced them.

I have a 20+ year old low end Yamaha that plays and sounds better.

Over all for a $170 dollar guitar it is adequate.

Beautiful Bummer

Beautiful looking guitar, but it buzzes like CRAZY, tried to fix it, but no luck.

Wow!

Completely impressed with the build quality and sound of my Oliver! A Friend with years of playing experience and many guitars worth $$$$ was shocked by the Oliver’s playability, sound and finish!

Five years on

I got an Oliver 7 Jan 2020. No issues with tuners, tuning, fit or finish. I have only done regular maintenance by oiling the fretboard, bridge, clean, change strings and adjust truss rod. It is #1 couch guitar and I have no buyers remorse 5 years on.

Great guitar that I’d pay hundreds more for!

Phenomenal craftsmanship in an incredibly affordable package. I’d easily pay a few hundred more for a guitar of this quality. I upgraded from a cheap beginner acoustic and for only a few dollars more, I’ve already noticed my skills improving on my Orangewood Oliver guitar. The incredible craftsmanship makes transitions and new song adaptability so much easier! 12 out of 10 would recommend.

A vintage-inspired upgrade, torrefied spruce is roasted to remove excess moisture, so the guitar continues to play at peak performance.

Cedar

An excellent topwood for classical guitars, cedar is perfect for delicate playing styles, like fingerpicking and soft strumming.
