We use Ernie Ball Earthwood Medium Light acoustic guitar strings to provide a crisp and full-sounding rich tone.
I think that says it all. I prefer the solid wood tops for fingerpicking and I normally change the strings to Ernie Ball 11's. I think any loss of tone is worth it for the extra playability. I even have one set up with 10's. When you have 8 guitars you can do what you want. I normally use fingerpicks which gives me extra volume. For the 10 gauge strings, I don't use any picks. I do all of my Flatpicking on sold wood tops. Note, almost all of the old blues players played on parlor guitars made of solid wood so if you want that style you will get a more accurate sound with this guitar.
Pretty good for a small body guitar. I wish it was louder I guess. Plays very nice and tunes good. Well worth 190.00. Looks great also.
It is a very nice guitar. The sunburst and satin finish and overall construction has the look and feel of quality. The tone is to my liking and the playability is good for me. I am not a musician and only play to entertain myself but I couldn’t be more satisfied with the purchase. And the price paid doesn’t have me feeling “buyer’s regret.”
Thank you Orangewood!
Holy Cow! At these current price points, during a pandemic, this is one quality instrument. The overall sound is solid upper mid to middle high (where you'ld expect it to be). Tuned to Nashville, which is what it was purchased for, it adds brilliant overtones and some "unique" harmonics to guitar layers. Live, it would probably be a great "harmony", second guitar.
The shipment can very quickly and was packed solidly enough. The only "real" problem is that the shipping company, left the thing in 90+ degree sun, and it was sitting there for several hours (hidden from view). So, I had to "decompress" it for a bit, before opening the box, so as not to check the finish.
Fit and finish is very, very good. My only minus (half a star), would be the finish. As I run my hands over it, I can feel many rough spots, probably where the finish was not sanded down all the way. But, the finish is nice and thin, so the thing really resonates.
Finally, the label says this was made in Indonesia. The insides are clean and finished nicely. The setup is "ok" (a light second string buzz from frets 1 to 4), but this may have happened from sitting in the sun. I'll give it a few days to settle down, before I adjust the neck (if I have too).
Overall, a fantastic buy! I will have to purchase other offerings from Orangewood, before they get smart and raise the prices ;-)
Very shocking and surprised with how much punch and quality this little guitar really gives. The shipping experience was great, the tone and playability is amazing, and the price tag only makes it more unbelievable on how amazing this little guitar is. Absolutely going to use it live and for songwriting. I highly recommend it, especially for a beginner guitar. You killed it once again Orangewood!
