3 Year Review

I am no newbie to guitars and I’m writing this review after owning my Brooklyn Live for at least 3 years. I own vintage Yamahas, Epiphone and Taylor not mention Fender and Gibson electrics. That’s my background.

This was my first experience of ordering online and it was flawless. The guitar arrived in pristine condition. The fit and finish was exceptional and the set up perfect for me. The action couldn’t have been any lower. About 6 months ago I made my first truss rod adjustment and a week later adjusted it back 50%. That’s it. I love the playability of the neck. The tuners always turn smoothly with no slippage.

The finish is absolutely beautiful. It really does look more expensive that it was. The top Sitka spruce top has really darkened sun the years I’ve owned it. The top finish might be too thick which gives a rather bright tone. If you’re looking for a darker, warmer tone this is not the guitar for you. If you’re a singer, this well balanced brighter tone should be right in your wheelhouse.
Once a week I play out with an acoustic group and it sounds good in a mix. The Fishman pickup system does an Ok job. If you’re looking for back off on the volume to about 2/3 you will get the best sound. Controls work fine. The battery lasts a decent about of time. When output starts to lag you’ll know it’s time for a new 9 volt battery.

Bottom line: This guitar plays great. It punch’s above its price point. I’m playing Elixir 11s on it and they always stay in tune. The Gig bag is good enough but I wish there was a better neck restraint ing system in it but it’s fine for around town. This is a really sweet guitar.

Great Guitar

I'm an older (71) beginner guitar player. I did a lot of research looking at "high-end" guitars like Martin and Taylor but hesitated pulling the trigger on guitars that cost well over a thousand dollars. I stumbled upon Orangewood, saw the excellent reviews and good prices. But what really sold me was how they set-up the guitars, replacing the stock strings with quality strings and improving the action. The Brooklyn is a great sounding guitar at a good price. I couldn't be happier. This is a solid company!

Brooklyn guitar

Beautiful guitar. Set up nicely. Sounds as good as guitars costing twice the money. Great value

Surprising for the money

I can honestly say the guitar is way better than I expected. From the finish to the setup I don’t think you can beat the quality for the money.

The Hype Is Real

Just received a Brooklyn. It is every bit as good as reviewers and users are communicating. It is almost unreal regarding the quality, sound, build and playability at this price point. The action was a bit high for my preference at the 12th fret, especially on the Low E end. I sanded the saddle to lower the levels and brought it right into a 5/64 inch low E and 4/64 inch high E. Then small adjustments to the Truss. The neck handled it with no problem, no buzzing or neck relief issues.

I own several high end guitars and am a multi decade player, and the Brooklyn is not a "compromise" guitar. I purchased mostly for travel, and couch playing and I won't feel like I am lowering my playing experience by not playing one of the others.

Good Job Orangewood!

Torrefied Spruce

A vintage-inspired upgrade, torrefied spruce is roasted to remove excess moisture, so the guitar continues to play at peak performance.

Cedar

An excellent topwood for classical guitars, cedar is perfect for delicate playing styles, like fingerpicking and soft strumming.
