New Wood, Vintage Tone

Roasting spruce speeds up its natural aging process, delivering a played-in, old-school tone. This torrefaction process removes excess moisture, making the guitar more resistant to overall atmospheric changes—perfect for tonal consistency.

The Golden Age

With retro charm and a contemporary build, the Highland Collection captures a timelessness that never goes out of style. From the Grover open-gear tuners to the herringbone details, every element is crafted with care.

Set Up in Los Angeles

Professionally set up before shipping, your guitar arrives ready to play—with fresh strings and a durable hard case included.

Studio Mic’d Sound

The LR Baggs Anthem is an all-in-one pickup system that combines a mic and undersaddle piezo with remarkable noise cancellation for performance-ready warmth and fidelity.

Take 2 Six Months later...

In my first review, I explained mostly about adjusting the action, etc. So, to break it in, I started using it as my teaching guitar as I teach 3 days a week. This guitar has opened up sooooo nicely! The tone acoustically is so beautiful. A few of my students even commented on how nice it sounds, one commented on how mellow the high end was. I would say the high end has a sweetness to it that I've not found on other guitars except my $4000 Larrivee. The lows are powerful, but not overbearing. I'm surprised at how much low end it has. Overall, it has become an inspiration to play. I love it. If you're apprehensive about this guitar, don't be. Over the past 56 years of playing, I've been through many, many acoustics. This is one I will be hanging on too. Thank you, Orangewood!

Amazing acoustic electric guitar!

Ivan had my Ava Live for almost a year and it’s an amazingly well built, fantastic sounding acoustic! Sounds great through an amp and acoustic-ly! Setup was solid from the start but I filed the saddle a bit to lower action some more because I like it low. It’s amazing how low I got it and it plays beautifully still with no buzzing anywhere! Easily one of the best playing acoustics I’ve ever played. Also, the neck profile is super comfortable and string spacing feels great - it’s a 44mm nut width which makes a significant difference (to me) compared to a 43mm nut. It’s so good I’m looking at other Orangewood guitars. Highly recommended!

Great Guitar!

Firstly, I've been playing professionally my whole life. I started in 1966 and have had many acoustic guitars. I got the Ava Sunburst Live because I was looking for a slot head with 14 frets to the neck. This guitar is beautiful. I like the satin finish. The neck is 1 3/4'" , but to me it doesn't feel like it. Maybe it's the string spacing. When it arrived, the action was a little high, so I lowered it by sanding the saddle. No problem. I changed the strings to Elixer custom lights, which I use on all my guitars. This changed the balance of the strings when plugged in. Messed with that a couple of weeks. Fixed that again with saddle adjustments. Now its balanced with great action, I play mostly finger style and this guitar is so comfortable to play. It's light and the size is just right. Now I;m ready to bring it on a gig. I'll let you know how it goes!

Amazing

I love this guitar so much. I pick it up and play it live 8/10 times over my custom rosewood Martin. The only thing I don’t absolutely love about this guitar is the slotted head stock. If you released this same guitar with a solid headstock, I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Keep up the amazing work Orangewood!
