I've had my Morgan Mahogany Live for a couple of weeks now and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed and really liking the rich warm tone of the mahogany top. I heard so many good things about it and Orangewood in general that I decided to take a chance. After playing it everyday since it arrived I found it played and sounded better with a more rich and balanced tone than a couple of my much more expensive well known brand name guitars. The build seems good and solid and it looks very nice. The action was a bit higher than I expected after seeing many reviews saying it was lower than most out of the box but that can be easily taken care on its next trip to my local luthier. That said, while the tuning machines work fine they do not have the fine control I'm used to so I just changed them with a set of gold Gotoh 0903-G tuning machines that were an exact, drop in replacement. They work perfectly and tune with the much finer control that I'm used to. Since I mostly play finger style, I prefer a bit lighter string so while I was changing the machines I also I changed the strings to my preferred Elixir Nanoweb, Custom Light, 11-52, Phosphor Bronze strings(#16027). This combination has made my playing this already very nice and wonderful value guitar a pretty exceptional experience. Lastly, and this addition was for purely esthetic reasons, I also changed the bridge pins to my preferred ebony with with a small abalone center found easily in many online retailers. However, this change takes a bit of time and effort to get the perfect fit I look for so it is not for those without the patience to very slowly sand down the new pins to get that fit. I am happy to say my Morgan Mahogany Live now hangs proudly with my other guitars and in my opinion looks, plays and sounds as good if not better compared to some much more expensive.
