Oliver Jr.

I started looking into this guitar after seeing Tony Polecastro and Darell Braun you tube videos from them on it. Background here: I've also purchased the Martin Jr and Taylor GS mini Koa, both fine smaller scale instruments and the Oliver Jr. fits right in-between them in terms of fit and finish. The neck is smooth and the fret work was on par with both the Martin and Taylor. Note here about the action on the instrument, it came to me set up at 2.75mm at the 12th fret which I adjusted down to 1.75 with a Light gauge string set of 10's and a bit of truss rod tweaking and saddle adjustment. Also noteworthy is it has no dead spots nor fret buzz either before or after I adjusted it to my liking. The tone of the instrument is, again right between the Martin which I hear as being darker with less definition in the low end and the Taylor shimmery high end and slightly louder bass. The Oliver Jr Mahogany is bright with out being offensive while the low end isn't as pronounced as the Taylor but having better definition in its lower register. An excellent instrument for the easy chair or couch. I have not yet used the electronic package on it but knowing its from Fishman it should be just fine. Note here the Martin Jr has a similar system and it sounds great when coupled with the Aura Spectrum where as the Taylor system is noisy out of the box, a problem I have yet to address with the builder / dealer as I seldom use it.
Only two things I would change about it, 1 bone nut and saddle 2 ebony end pins. I would also pay 3 to 4 times as much for an all Mahogany instrument on this scale / size that was build with the same attention to detail as this one has been. Thank you Orangewood and please donate my free set of Earthwood strings to your Giving Guitar program
Built it right, like as you have done, and word will spread. Two thumbs up. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because of the 2 items mentioned before and you can't give 1/2 stars...

Oliver Jr. Mahogany

I absolutely loved my guitar! I was having great difficulty playing my olld 1989 Yamaha because the body was too big. I’m 59 yes old and have fibromyalgia so I stopped playing for a long time! My husband purchased this because a friend of his told him about it having a small body. I am now playing with no difficulty and am so thankful for he awesome soft sound it displays! Thank you greatly for giving me hope to be able to play again ! I love the beauty and color and it is perfect for me!

Thank you for leaving a review, Paula!
A Little Guitar with a BIG Sound

Rec'd my Oliver Jr. Sept. 9. It's only been a few days but I can say that I am very happy with my purchase. It is a beautiful guitar; no blemishes or defects in the finish. It is very sturdy and feels like a much more expensive guitar.
Considering its size, I was shocked at how boomy the sound quality is. It projects very well and the sound (to my ears anyway) is deep and rich. I watched several YT videos featuring the Oliver Jr. before deciding to buy.
This guitar truly deserves the praise it has garnered and was a little great choice for me.

I love the versatility of this guitar.

It’d be great for a beginner or someone whose been playing for a while, the sound is full and the playability is amazing.

I love having a smaller quality guitar that i can take on the go at any time.

Not to mention, i get so many compliments on the mahogany finish.

So thankful for this guitar and the customer service that orangewood provides, i look forward to buying from them in the future and i will continue to be a walking advertisement for their quality.

Thank you orangewood!

Great value for an excellent small guitar

I got my Oliver Jr. Mahogany Live a couple weeks ago and I have not regretted at all. It is a beautiful guitar, very well set up. It sounds warm and very clear, no buzzing at all, of course you have to play it gently so you can the tone out of it since it is not a big guitar. Very rapidly it is becoming my go to acoustic guitar and the pre amp works great as well. This is my first purchase with Orangewood and I am very satisfied. I love the value of the guitar, it is very affordable but don’t be mistaken, it does not have the build of a cheap guitar, on the contrary it has a great quality for the price. I will be buying another guitar soon, one that is bigger.
