I had to return my dreadnaught. It was too big for me to get my arthritic shoulder around without pain. My Oliver Jr. is just the right size and loses none of the tone.
Falling in Love with it. Based on reviews and description, I already had recommended this model to two beginner players who each purchased the non pickup acoustic versions. Then I decided to get me one too.
I've been playing guitar non professionally for over 50 years though I still feel like I'm a beginner and a rank amateur. My other guitars are an Alvarez dreadnaught, a '73 Fender stratocaster, and and a small Yamaha hollow body electric travel guitar. I needed a smaller acoustic that I can tote around easily and that doesn't have to fill an auditorium, and the Oliver Jr Live seemed perfect. So far I give the guitar and Orangewood a ‘5', but I need to play it a bit more, and feel, listen, and look closer before I commit fully to that. Anyway, the warm rich tone is beyond my expectations -especially when plugged in to my little Fender amp with clean settings. Intonation, relief, action, etc, all seem spot on. It’s a “player” for sure. I might like the neck 1 or 2 mm narrower like my Strat, which is perfect for my hands, but that isn’t a fault or even necessarily a complaint -just a difference to adapt to.
All my dealings with Orangewood have been quite satisfactory, questions answered, shipping timely, everything as advertised and billed. $295 bucks? Surely your kidding!! I doubt whatever flaws I find or criticisms I may eventually develop could overshadow the quality of this guitar for that price. I’m one very satisfied customer and will continue to recommend Orangewood guitars to others.
I am learning to play guitar again after a pause of a couple decades. I bought the Oliver Jr. Mahogany Live because when I played before my guitar always felt a little too big for me and my hands felt a little too small. This guitar fits me just right. I felt confident enough yesterday to actually plug it into my little practice amp! I love the mellow sound of this little guitar and it has been a joy learning to play again. Thank you!
I’m a beginner and had been practicing on my dads guitar for three months. I’d finally saved enough money to get this guitar! It’s amazing! I don’t know much about guitars but I know this one is awesome. I also bought the accessory kit and it was great too! Overall a great purchase. Did not disappoint!
The Oliver Jr is my second Orangewood guitar. I also have the Mason Live. Like my first, my second Orangewood is simply the best guitar for the money I’ve ever found. Except maybe that rare pawn shop find. The guitar’s playability, tone, action and feel is simply wonderful. It sounds fantastic acoustic or plugged in, which we all know is a rarity. I highly recommend Orangewood regardless of your budget. After all, why spend a dime more than you need to. Check out Orangewood for the win!
