As for my traveling guitar, because we go on Ministry missions trip to Africa, Europe and Asia. I have used Little Martin, GS Mini Taylor and now I got the Oliver Jr Mohogany Live, they are not comparable but I was surprise the pickup of the Oliver Jr was strong and the sound full like of a regular guitar compare to Little Martin and GS mini. For the price of the Oliver Jr you cant go wrong. Sorry to say but I gave it away already, my church mate going to Japan and Hongkong for mission trip. I need anothe one for myself.
Thanks for the review, Hector! Oliver Jr. guitars are the perfect travel companion!
The Oliver Jr arrived on schedule. It rings out nicely for a small guitar and can handle solid strumming like a champ.
I'm a worship leader and traveling to Bolivia in March to lead worship on a mission trip. After seeing such great reviews on them, I have wanted to try out Orangewood for a while now, but I never had the spare cash to splurge on one. I was looking for a Taylor GS Mini or similar to take on the mission trip when I saw the sale on Orangewood. I mentioned the sale to my wife and wouldn't you know it I had an Oliver Jr. Live under the tree Christmas morning!
I've played a mahogany GS Mini (borrowed) in the past, and I loved how it sounded while still being small and travel-friendly. I was so surprised at how well the Oliver Jr. compared with the Taylor! The GS Mini has a little better low-end and overall tone (IMO), but at the Oliver's price point, it's a no-brainer. When I traveled with that borrowed GS Mini, I was a nervous wreck. I was so worried something would happen to it or that it would get broken and I would owe my friend $600 to replace it! The Orangewood not only sounds amazing but at less than $200, if something happens to it along the way I won't be near as heartbroken or penniless. The Fishman pickup in the live version is awesome as well. I played it this past Sunday and got several compliments on it.
Can’t wait to show this guitar off! It also sounds great.
Bought this electric-acoustic guitar for my son as a holiday gift since he really likes my Taylor GS Mini. He was very pleased with the size and sound and I would recommend this guitar to any guitar player. It's too bad the product is not processed entirely within the U.S.
