I got my guitar about a couple weeks ago.
I'm 55 and started playing in 2020... Got bored.
I'm still terrible, but I have learned that I CAN learn to play! My fingers WILL eventually do what my brain says.
I wanted to play Here Comes the Sun and it sounds best on accoustic.
It took me 30 hours but I can play it and your guitar is AWESOME! It's perfect. It sounds awesome. It's comfortable. It stays in tune.
You guys rock (yes, I'm a dad, so pun intended).
I was pleasantly surprised. The guitar not only looks amazing but plays amazing especially for the price.
I was generally happy with the guitar for the price. Definitely a richer sound than my mid-range Fender acoustic, and easier to play. It was comfortable and seemed fairly lightweight. Good action and it looks great!
Unfortunately, I noticed a ringing sound while playing the D string, which was off-pitch. It appears to be coming from the resonance of the body (it's not the strings above the nut or anything else on the outside of the guitar). It may be string-related - I have not changed the strings yet on it.
A lot of people will really like this guitar, but after reflection I think it is not what I'm looking for at this stage in my playing.
I accidentally ruined my Taylor GA3 (slipped off the wall hook), so was looking for some relatively inexpensive instrument, with fairly modest expectations. I read many rave reviews about Orangewood so decided to give a try to this "cat in the bag". I should admit I was greatly surprised! Very nice instrument - delivered quickly, in impeccable condition. Very beautifully made, with full attention to details, flawless. Setup is just right - easy to play, with low action yet no buzzing across the fingerboard. Overall, I find playability better than my broken GA3! Tone wise..., well, it is hard for me to compare it with 12 year old "opened-up" Taylor but still sounds very nice, and well above most of acoustic guitars at this price point. Overall, very satisfied and no regrets with my purchase. Well done, Orangewood!
I've had my Mason Torrefied Spruce Live for a couple of weeks now. Long enough to get a good feel for the instrument. It's a phenomenal guitar for the money. I was hesitant at first to purchase a guitar sight unseen online, but I am sure glad I did. The closest guitar I can think of in playability and tone is the Taylor 214ce. The low end sounds tight and punchy, the top end is nice and bright. The grand auditorium body shape is super comfortable as is the satin finished neck. I had to give the frets a good polish and I restrung with 11's, which meant I needed to do a very minor truss rod adjustment. If I had stayed with 12's, I wouldn't have had to touch a thing in terms of playability. Very good setup on this guitar and the Fishman electronics sound way better than I expected. I am blown away by how good this guitar is for the money. It's my first Orangewood and definitely won't be my last.
