This is the best sounding guitar I’ve ever owned and I’ve played for 25 years owned over 30 or more guitars

My New Berkeley

I have had my Berkeley a week now.
I try to play it everyday. I do enjoy it. I have several Highend American made Guitars; I place the sound right there with them. Also wonderfully made and clean on details.

Thank you for your review! We're so glad you're enjoying your Berkeley!

Comely and Toneful Instrument

I was initially impressed by the looks of the guitar, the fine set up and geometry (note the tall saddle but low action which gives you tons of room for adjustment, if necessary) but at the end of day one I was feeling disappointed in the tone. The guitar was pretty tight and I wasn't getting the booming bass and treble zing I expected from a rosewood type b&s.
But, I kept playing it and after a few days it really started to sing. After a few weeks, it's a really lively guitar and I am very pleased with it. Nice round trebles and plenty of low end without getting muddy and eminently playable. I even put 10-52 (super light) strings on it because I'm used to playing electric and it still has plenty of volume and sweet tone.
Berkeley is an excellent guitar at any price but for under $1,000, it is pretty amazing. I may get a concert size (Sierra?) as well as I've been thinking about getting a a smaller body guitar.
Thank you, Orangewood, for making a great and affordable guitar!

Not what I was hoping for

I bought a Berkeley assuming it would be a big step up from my Echo Live but it did not sound appreciably better. It was a BEAUTIFUL instrument but sounded muffled especially on the low end. The return was simple and hassle free. Thanks Orangewood for your exemplary customer service.

Worth every penny.

I’ve been a Guild guy for decades, but couldn’t resist my wandering eyes when I learned of the products Orangewood is offering. Sight unseen is a gamble, how well do I know, but my Berkeley was worth every penny spent. It has more punch and a more balanced voice than a ten year old D-28. I didn’t believe it until it was in my hands. Even the most critical ear will be pleasantly surprised …all this to say nothing of the beautifully modest finishing appointments. I’m a very proud owner of an Orangewood Berkeley. Everything about it far exceeds my expectations for the price-point. I hope the good people at Orangewood don’t mind a little Texas Swing…. Also; I could really use a vinyl decal or two….
