I’ve played high end Martins, Taylor’s and Gibsons etc and no guitar is the same. In a sense it is true that you pay for quality but anywhere past $500 or so its becomes objective. And there’s nothing a good set up can’t fix to narrow that gap between a high end and a low end guitar. But here comes Orangewood. Budget friendly and quality guitars for the budget minded musician. You need to like the way your guitar looks and more importantly how it plays. The guys and gals at Orangewood know that which is why they set the guitar up when it gets back into the states. A subtle yet dynamic impression statement that makes a world of difference in owning a new guitar. It’s plays like a dream and gets me back into the art of playing that I’ve wanted to learn to love again. Worth the try. And you won’t regret you did. Thanks Orangewood for a great guitar!
I saw the Oliver Mahogany in a video by Mary Spender and I was sold. I bought one instantly and was astounded by the quality in tone and aesthetically when it arrived. Great price. Great Product. Sounds even better using the Oliver Live plugged in.
I've tried to learn guitar on and off for about a decade but just never managed to stick with it. That is not the case with the Oliver. I have put in at least an hour per day since I got it, partly due to working from home and having it in arms reach all day. It is an extremely comfortable shape and thickness, I had only ever picked up dreadnaught acoustics in the past and found them a little too big for trying to learn on, this just works. The tuning stability has been great even in south Louisiana summer where the humidity is swinging wildly from day to day. Only need minor tweaks in the morning and it's good the rest of the day.
The sound is fantastic and the electric pickup takes it over the top. I also recently purchased a line 6 pod go and it sounds fantastic even with just basic reverb and chorus effects. Can't wait to see what it sounds like with an IR made for acoustic.
The only downside is the fact that the setup out of the box is a little off. The intonation is a bit off, adjustment of the truss rod helped with that and the frets are a little rough so it's not quite as perfect all of the youtube reviewers have said. The strings were also nearly ready for replacement when it arrived. I assume that has to do with the long shipping times from Indonesia before it arrives. I have new strings showing up today so hopefully that will solve some of the minor issues, and I will polish the frets a bit while changing the strings to see if that helps as well.
Even with the minor issues, I couldn't be happier with this guitar for the price. I highly recommend for new players looking for a quality acoustic that won't break the bank.
Great guitar! I was curious about Oranegewood guitars so I bought this. Looks great , plays well. Super good guitar
