Inspired by the sound and beauty of vintage guitars, we’ve added a torrefied solid top and Grover open-gear tuners to our Highland collection for an aged look, woody tone, and a timeless impression.
Take your guitar everywhere with our first-ever hard case. Designed for durability and comfortability, it’s made for the guitarist on the go.
All our Highland Collection models feature an ebony bridge
and fingerboard to add balanced bass and a smooth feel that guitarists love.
Our Highland Collection Live models come equipped with the award-winning LR Baggs Anthem Pickup System, chosen for its warm natural tone and feedback resistance.
We use Ernie Ball Earthwood Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings for a warm, distinguished tone with golden clarity.
Great case, guitar fits snugly into slot and well padded. The guitar has a minimalistic design and looks great. No issues with construction and set up. The Phosphor Bronze strings really are the best set up for this guitar though I wish it came with the higher end rust resistant version. Oxidation rubs off on fingers relentlessly.
Picking sounds amazing, very responsive, resonants and sustains well with hammer on and slides. Strumming leaves more to be desired. Not as crisp as I was expecting. Still getting extra value for It’s price point with the LIVE Sage electric acoustic version. It’s a steal, I mean deal, especially for the $695 all acoustic version.
I've played many guitars in my time all over the spectrum....the major competitors and so many from specific luthiers. Before I ordered this Sage Live, I listened to many Youtube videos of this guitar...and concluded the sound produced was going to be...impressive. So...I expected to be IMPRESSED...and I was. This guitar has a rich/deep sound and is clear across the registers. If I didn't know better, I'd think, based on the sound, that I may have a rosewood guitar in hand. The setup was close to my desired measure...only adjustment I made was the total turn of 1/4 (2 x 1/8 turn) positive on the truss rod. And a kudos to Orangewood for including excellent instructions on how to care for the guitar including truss rod adjustments. IMHO however, you should adjust the truss rod only if you truly know what you are searching for...or trying to accomplish. Everyone wants to know what these guitars compare to... I admit...it's difficult to know that answer unless you've actually owned/played many. My conclusion>>I would compare this to guitars that cost 3x the cost of the Sage Torrefied Spruce Live... The feel of the guitar is straight-on and the neck is very comfortable. So, I tell everyone, get one of these... You will thank me....and Orangewood.... And a plus....you get an excellent guitar case with these....
I received my Sage Live yesterday. I purchased a Rey as a gift for a friend a few months ago and I liked that guitar. But I was a little apprehensive spending that much money on a guitar I have never seen in person. Well I just opened the package and when I took the Sage out I was totally blown away. This guitar is absolutely amazing as was the case it came in. I loved the feel, the tone, actually I love everything about this guitar. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to be a proud owner of an Orangewood Sage guitar
