Lived up to the hype!

I’ve regretted not learning an instrument when I was younger and so decided to go ahead with the guitar. I had purchased one off a home shopping channel several years ago but lost the drive to learn it. Recently I began watching reviews of this company I never heard of. The reviews were from seasoned guitarists who play with much more expensive guitars and they loved the Orangewood guitars. The ordered the Sage because I wanted a cut away and sold wood construction. In my very humble opinion, the finish and construction of the Sage are impeccable. The quality of the guitar, case and accessories are superb. I look forward to practicing after even 12 hours of working. Great service and support from Orangewood. Unbelievable value for the money.

Almost perfect

I loved the smell of fresh cut wood. The finish is not as smooth as I expected. I can feel a few burs in the wood.
The strap packaged with the starter kit is too short and has a strong, strange smell.

Bargin Sage

Great acoustic. Sounds like a Taylor, bright tone.
Solid wood at this price is amazing. Did change the strings out. Don't care for Ernie Ball on acoustics but, on electric ,very good.

Mostly good (action too high)

I wish I could give 4.5 stars instead of 4. But I can’t give it 5 stars. The action was too high on this guitar. I had to tighten the truss rod quite a bit to get the action down to 2mm. It was sent at 3mm. It plays great now, sounds great, looks great, and frankly smells great (new acoustic guitar smell was strong with the force). I somewhat doubted this guitar was set up in the US by someone that wasn’t just making sure it didn’t buzz.
I just can’t see a true guitarist sending out what this brand considers to be their premium guitar with action like a $200 budget acoustic. The problem is I wasn’t 100% sure I could get the action where I needed it, I didn’t want to tamper with the guitar to a point where I was affecting the return of a mint product to orangewood. Just difficult since you can play this guitar ahead of purchasing. Overall very nice, just wish the “setup” in California was a bit more well done.

Great guitar!

I really love this guitar! It's an outstanding guitar for the price! It arrived in a really nice hard shell case with red felt on the inside and fits really snug to the guitar. The guitar is beautiful, all wood and there is no stain or varnish so it has an all natural look to it which I love! It is very light and sounds amazing. Has a nice warm tone to it when you finger pick and is very chimey when you strum. The high E really rings out when strumming with a pick so embellishing is a breeze. Overall one heck of a guitar for the price and the case is a bonus! Would of given five stars but I do have one complaint. The hard shell case comes with a latch and key with the capability to lock. The case sent to me did not lock. I would put the key in and it would just free spin and never lock. I would like to have a case that locks but there again not a necessity. Other than these minor issues, still a phenomenal guitar and would absolutely recommend the Orangewood Sage to anyone!!
