I’ve only been playing guitar for about four months. Prior to my Orangewood guitar I was playing a 25 year old bottom of the line Epiphone. It seemed OK at the time, but a friend of mine told me that it was very hard to play and that I was fighting it and I should get some thing new. I really wanted a guitar where at least the top was solid wood and that had a smoother richer sound. But I did not want to spend $1000 on a new wood guitar. So my friend introduced me to Orangewood and I could not be more pleased. The sound is rich and it’s much easier to play And it makes me want to play more. I look forward to enjoying this guitar for years to come and someday upgrading to one of their all solid wood models, the guitar came ready to play as promised, and only needed to be tuned.
Thank you for choosing Orangewood DK - Welcome to the family!
I own 3 Orangewoods, and all are great Guitars. Now, comparatively, this one is kind of bright unplugged, and of course when you put on brand new strings, even brighter (To be fair I am a die hard D'addario guy and they tend to be bright).
I also had it set up to the way I like them, unless the tech is right with you, or knows you well, it is impossible to get exactly how you like. After that, it plays very well and being a small guy, fits me perfect.
Playability, the neck feels good, but a touch chunky compared to my other Orangewood, it also feels solid and very good for acoustic lick runs which is great if you are a person who throws licks in between chords.
Sound, acoustically, sounds nice, a touch on the brighter side as expected based on the woods. This is perfect for me as I play with guys with different guitars so I can chose mine to complement theirs and not step on them.
Plugged in, I have to say I was disappointed. It was a struggle to get a good sound out of my Acoustic A40, even with a powered DI shaping the sound.
I switched over to my Headrush that I usually use plugged into my PA and was able to quickly get a nice sound. This tells me that you need a decent sound shaping pedal like an LR Baggs.
This is nothing to do with the Guitar, but more the electronics they chose to use, the Fishman Sonitone is fairly universally hated. I like the guitar but would not use it on stage until I switch out the electronics which I intend to do
I really like the guitar I got, it was setup really nice . I’ve had a couple people that I play try it, you’ll be hearing from them. One of has the Morgan mahogany, that’s how I got turned to the mahogany, I’m really glad to hear the Morgan mahogany is coming.
It came in a reasonable time and it was shipped well too. The quality of the case is really good too. I love the optional pick guard that came with it as well. The guitar’s quality is the best ever for its price. It sounds fantastic and the pickups work great too. Overall a 10 out of 10 in my books. The guitars action was nice and low and the overall playability out of the box is amazing. I would definitely recommend OrangeWood guitars to other people. Keep up the good work!!
