I love my Oliver Jr. Mahogany aka Ollie. I'm a beginner and the size is perfect. It sounds beautiful, definitely recommend it!
Nice guitar. Removing bridge pins to change strings is more than a challenge - they do NOT come out - eventually had to use pliers with soft pads as to not destroy the plastic pins - removed all strings first to be able to try and push pins up from underneath the bridge - NO GO. Pliers did remove with a lot of muscle. Someone new to guitar would probably return the guitar - it is that hard and extremely frustrating. The Ernie Ball strings are terrible and I wanted to put on my John Pearse strings which are far superior. I have ordered new bridge pins - solid wood ones and will have to file them to fit. Plastic bridge pins need to go - the best thing to upgrade and should be done by the guitar maker - cheap to do and much better sound. No plastic on guitar! Nice action and string height at the 12th fret. Nut is slotted correctly and smoothly and the bridge pins are also slotted. Excellent intonation. I play in many alternate tunings including Low C and no fret buzz. Sound is subjective - I am very pleased with the tone and projection. I play mostly Celtic instrumentals and embellishments are easy with the good setup done before guitar is shipped to you. I also have the Spruce Oliver Jr. and had the exact same problems as with this one. I recommend these two guitars but take the guitar to a luthier to remove the bridge pins and I recommend replacing them with wood or tusq. The bridge pin holes will need to be filed for most replacement pins to fit but it is worth the time to do it yourself or to have your luthier do it for you. Nice gig bag. Quick ship with tracking. I recommend this company and their instruments.
Well worth the money this little darling can hold up to the baby taylor any day. It sounds beautiful. I absolutely love it
