The Morgan Mahogany Live is the first guitar I have ever owned . . . and the first real guitar I have ever even touched. I am an older beginner and as is my usual approach to anything new, I researched the crap out of my selection. I could not be happier. I am a keyboardist but really wanted to branch out. Making a guitar sound on a keyboard is unsatisfying to say the least so I took the plunge. Hours of web research led me to Orangewood . . . super value priced offerings across a spectrum of guitars with features I was interested in. I knew the sound I was looking for - a rich darker maybe more mellow tone with a bit less high end twang. I also knew that i wanted electro-acoustic to record with my keyboards. And I wanted something that caught my eye as well. This guitar checked all the boxes and the playing samples led me to believe that it would have the sound I was looking for too. The only problem - Orangewood was sold out!! Fortunately, I signed up for the email notification and the next shipment arrived 2-3 weeks later. So I jumped on it and after an amazing number of status emails it arrived safely at my door
With the excitement building, I opened up my first guitar, and could not have been happier!! The guitar looks great - inspirational even. I got the Accessory Kit with my order and dug out the tuner. After a little tuning and string stretching, I sat down for an afternoon of noodling and smiling. I love this guitar. I am certain that it will bring me years of enjoyment as I desperately try to let at least some of the music out of this instrument. Thank you Orangewood. If and when I am ready for an even better guitar - I know where I am going!!
Bought this as a travel guitar for roadtrips, camping, and the like, something I wouldn't worry about too much, so I could leave the really expensive acoustic at home. I gotta say I really enjoy playing this little guitar. Bright, clear tone, good action, great feel in the neck, acoustic pickup comes through pretty warm and clear through a tube amp. Really pleased with it over all. Read through the reviews before buying, saw a lot of folks complaining about the factory strings... so change them guys, what's the big deal? I change strings like I change socks...
My only critique would be the tuning machines, they feel just a bit flimsy. Again, not a tough fix, throwing some new tuners on there. Doesn't affect the play and seems to hold tune pretty well honestly. All around really impressed with this axe. Great entry level acoustic. Will definitely hand this one off to my son if and when he's ready to start playing.
I have to Breedloves and an amazing Taylor here on my rack, and while my Taylor is king 👑 I am reaching for the Orangewood next. So let’s talk $2500 King and I reaching for the $225 Orangewood next. That says a hell of a lot for the quality of these guitars. Yeah yeah!!
I wanted an upgrade from my Epiphone DR-100, something with a cutaway and a pickup as well as better tone and playability. Being very happy with my Epiphone, I thought that would be a tall order at this price point. I have found my new Orangewood guitar to be an upgrade in every way and I appreciate it's tone and playability more and more as I play it every day. very happy with my new guitar!
