One of a Kind

This is a late review. I bought the guitar in January 2021, and use it every weekend. Coming from a Guitar Center guitar, to say that this guitar is impressive is an understatement. Immediately, the deep and smooth resonating sound at first play really made me fall in love. Each week of the last 3 years have been a pleasure. Size, tone, weight, ease of use, maintenance, and playing are all top quality. I cannot recommend the Sage Mahogany, and Orangewood, enough!

Absolutely Amazing!

Oh wow! I just unboxed the OW Sage Mahogany Live…unbelievable. Heavy, double box, over the hard case with guitar inside. The hard case has got to be FAA approved with 4 locking hasps. The case interior is plush, form fitted to the guitar. Absolutely no movement inside of the guitar. The guitar is beautiful, seems to be well set up and was in perfect tune. All this after traveling 7 days from southern CA, AZ, NM, KS, IL, IN, KY. The guitar plays well for me, rich, warm sound.

Honestly, I was skeptical as to what was actually going to arrive. OW is the real deal, delivering exactly what they promise, perhaps a little more.

I can honestly say I feel a real difference.

Thanks for the review, Mark! Enjoy your Sage Mahogany Live!

I wanted to wait a while before writing a review in order to get a better evaluation. I have had the Sage mahogany live for 6-7 months now and I play it almost every day. This is my second Orangewood (I bought an Oliver junior a couple years ago to keep a small guitar at my office). In the first couple of weeks I agonized about returning it, even getting the return shipping label sent to me. My concern was that the finish had a few imperfections, I wondered if the workmanship at the nut was good enough, and I had to crank the truss rod to the max to lower the action. The Oliver junior seemed to be perfect which made me wonder about the Sage. I looked at several other guitars to compare the nut, and only the super high-end ones (~$1700+) were better. Now that I've had it a while, I'm very satisfied and happy to have kept it. I own 7 guitars and the Sage is upper tier. The sound quality is very good, including the electronics. I prefer the projection of mahogany to the brighter sounds of other wood; mahogany ages well and I think it is sounding even better over time. I will eventually have it professionally set up to get the bridge lowered so I don't have to max out the truss rod, and to improve the action. That said, I've been playing it for half a year without the professional set up and I really, really like it. I own Fender, PRS, Taylor (GS Mini, so not exactly equivalent to the Sage), Yamaha, and a few others. The PRS and Sage are my go-to at the moment. Bottom line: it sounds good, looks good, and is a good value. If it somehow was out of my possession any time soon, I would get another.

Thanks for your honest review, John. We are so glad you gave the Sage Mahogany a chance!

It sounds good, but it doesn’t project naturally like my Taylor! It handles well though and the electronics work very well!!! I’m going to keep it!!!
